The roads like these in Europe will be in Ukraine not earlier than in 15 years

According to the head of «Ukravtodor», Sergei Podgainyi,  road quality level of Ukraine will reach European only  in the 15 years but  given the annual  financial support amounting to UAH 30-40 billion.

According to head of Ukravtodor, about 90% of Ukrainian roads require of reconstruction or very serious repairs. Due to this structure and age of the road network (which was built more than 30-40 years ago according to technical regulations of those times). Thus, the Ukrainian roads require serious approach to solve the issue of increasing their strength and supporting capacity. In addition, restored roads will need to be equipped with new safety road signs too.

Sergey Podgainyi also noted: «Following the handover of the management of local roads to  regional councils, and in a forward-looking manner, - on a basic level, as provided by changes in the industry, the «Ukravtodor» management area will include 35 thousand km of roads of general use of state importance, which are the main transport routes for trucking companies. That is why they need repair in the first place. Head of «Ukravtodor» is convinced that for 15 years with the annual funding in 30-40 billion UAH will be able to fully reconstruct the road network in Ukraine.

According to the head, receiving and allocation  of parts entering funds would only be possible after the creation of the State Road Fund, as well as the involvement of new investments, including  increase in collaborations with international financial institutions and the execution of concession projects. All of  these is considered by new version of the Concept of road sector reform.
